I, too, have been ensnared by endless rounds of Teamfight Tactics - so let's make some content about the one new thing that game added to LoL's aesthetics and character design: the Little Legends! No surprise, Riot's animation department knocks it out of the park on these little guys - but let's take a closer look!

League of Legends, showing a profound understanding of human nature, have made their next champion an adorable loyal little loving kitty-cat, who's out on a fun-filled family adventure to find her missing master and bring her home.

So... does it work? Does the character design and lore manage to cohere in a compelling way? Let's discuss.

The Star Guardians get their best and most, er, ANIMATED animated short so far, featuring some brilliant mixing of 2D and 3D animation and forever begging the question of "this is already so anime, how the hell isn't this an anime?"

Also, I get really excited about Neeko's hair for some reason.

Enchanted Portals is a game that looks a lot like, and clearly takes inspiration from Cuphead. It is being dismissed as a lazy rip-off, or some kind of low-effort clone without artistic or creative merit.

Let's talk a little bit about why that opinion is, frankly, objectively wrong.

Ashen is a game with a really interesting visual style, and a lovely aesthetic universe that got me interested very early on. Now that it's finally out, obviously I had to take a quick look at it.

It's mechanics are... well, let's be real, they're lifted wholesale from Dark Souls, but they're applied to such a different visual universe (and, one hopes, such a different story) that it feels less like a "everything Dark Souls sells well by default!" cash grab than a real stand-alone game that just happens to use similar mechanics.

So League of Legends is getting Louis Vuitton skins and apparently this is a real thing that's happening and not some kind of weird joke that someone made on the boards in 2013.

We'll look at the skins once they're out, but in the meantime, uuuuh, let's talk about what's up with THAT set of licensing agreements.

Realms of Runeterra is a "collectible narrative companion book," and it looks quite good. So let's use it as a jumping off point to discuss the history of League's lore and its publishing strategy, and its obstinate dedication to an aesthetic of quality control.

Because why would I ever want to be straightforward or entertaining on YouTube dot com?
